An amazing group of young women gathered today at Colony High School, as part of an international and intergenerational leadership program called “
Girls Fly,” founded by an equally amazing woman Gael Sylvia Pullen. The topic was “kindness” and we talked about how acts of kindness develop a part of your brain that makes you more compassionate. And don’t we need more compassion in the world today! We watched the
Kindness Boomerang video to demonstrate kindness in action. And then, there was this moment while presenting, where I realized that the reason patients speak highly about what we do for them is not due to intelligence or hard work (at least it doesn’t feel like hard work). It is due to
really caring. And that compassion and care comes from a dedicated practice where you
choose to be kind. This translates into a level of focus that allows for the creation of treatment plans that really work.
It is simply a decision.
As Mr. Rogers said so well, ” There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.”
With great hope for the future,
Dr. Gina

Here is a great article from Harvard Medical School’s health blog that clearly lists some of the main chemicals that we want our kids to steer clear of, and why. At our office we test children for imbalances that are sometimes caused by too much exposure to these chemicals, that can lead to avoidable health problems. They are often referred to as “endocrine disrupters” because they cause hormonal imbalances in the body.
It is a quick read and worth a look!

Every body is unique. We all have individual nutrient needs that cannot be met by simply taking a multivitamin along with the latest highly marketed nutritional supplement that we see on social media or on TV. That is why I am so pleased to share our new program with you.
The “Personalized Nutrient Two Month Medical Program” includes:
1) An initial medical nutrient intake by phone that is specific to searching for nutrient imbalances that are a cause for your symptoms. Together we will discuss your unique goals and the health challenges you may face.
2) Comprehensive blood and urine lab testing and medical interpretation of the lab results.
3) Follow up medical visit by phone to go over all test results.
4) Customized two month supply of your personalized powdered nutrient formulation based on your symptoms assessment and your urine and blood test results.
You will love the results and can finally feel confident knowing you are taking the nutrient supplements that you need and nothing more, and nothing less. This is a balanced approach to treating the underlying nutrient imbalances that can cause so many of our symptoms today.

“My experience with Dr. Gina was 5 star. She had studied the entire 16 page questionnaire I filled out in advance of our first visit, and based on that and her background, already knew much about my physical, emotional, mental and dare I say, spiritual health. I’ve been to many ND’s over the years, the naturopathic principles resonate with me. Dr. Gina was professional, science based, yet what impressed me the most was her intuition and perceptive “read” of my entire being. While several health issues precipitated my visits, what I learned was how deeply our mental, emotional and spiritual health affect the physical-and how empowering that realization was and is.
Truly I can say my experience with Dr. Gina was life changing, and the healing of all of those four has been permanent.
I was also quite impressed with her detecting that my thyroid was “off” although the usual tests did not reveal this. We treated that based on her understanding of other symptoms often overlooked by other doctors (not only MD’s, other ND’s as well). At that time she was also quite active in legislation to legitimize ND’s as primary care physicians, and offered limited office hours.
I felt and feel very fortunate I was able to be seen and treated by her.”

May 25th is World Thyroid Day. Thyroid function is central to so many different systems and functions in the body from metabolism, to mood, to inflammation and hormone balance, to immune system function.
Here are some interesting facts that you may not know about thyroid function:
- Some of the physical signs of low thyroid function (hypothyroidism) are: Puffy physical appearance with swollen face and bags under the eyes, overweight, dry, rough, brittle hair and nails, thinning of the outside third of the eyebrows, and diffuse hair loss.
- Proper thyroid hormone replacement therapy can be one of the best antidepressants available, bringing energy and an improved mood.
- Thyroid hormones support detoxification within and in between the over 30 trillion cells in your body.
- Avoid high protein meals at night if you have low thyroid function as it slows down the conversion of T4 to the active T3 hormone.
When properly balanced and supported, your thyroid gland can help you live a healthier and happier life. I recommend getting properly tested and treated by a doctor who is skilled in looking beyond the standard blood tests and prescription of T4 and can offer you a broader look at what is happening and how to best treat it.

Women’s International Pharmacy published an excellent article on the importance of understanding how hormones work with receptor sites and the signifiant impact this has on hormone treatments in women and in men. I often find myself discussing with my patients at Forever Ageless that it is not enough to look at blood test results and the amount and even the form of hormones being administered. We must look at factors such as symptom resolution, inflammation, medical history and more to help assess how beneficial a bio-identical hormone protocol is for you. This makes a lot of sense when you understand the role of hormone receptors and how they impact the results of being treated with bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Bio-identical hormones can change lives for the better, when introduced safely and with great care and focus on treating you as an individual, with a unique set of receptors and cells that operate best when in a balanced state.
To your health,
Dr. Gina
