This study did not take into account the pesticides used in conventional food production; 70% of which are know carcinogens. It also only looked at the minimum amount of macro nutrients, completely discounting micronutrients and anti-oxidants.---HELLO!

The study reflects the same tunnel vision thinking of food scientists who, in the 40-50's removed Omega's(mostly 3's) from food for greater shelf life and the proponents (oil corporation scientists and Fed's) of chemical based conventional farming, stopped almost all "annual re-mineralization and micronutient supplementation" of crop fields as well as fallowing in every farm in America!
Food Science and the Fed's deemed minerals and micronutrients not needed because plants only need the nutrients N, P, and K to live. Notice the key word is live. I could live on fast food, but I would not thrive and I would have health issues.

With the use of petroleum based fertizers and pesticides the current produce at your local Ralph's has only 10 to 50% of nutritional value of the produce your grandparents ate as a child. This is because the fields were remineralized and left fallow or in rest for a portion of the year when your grandpa was a kid.

It is extremely to easy to buy local organic food. You can go once a week or buy green produce saving bags and go only a week. You can go to one of the many certified farmers markets in OC, SD, LA and Riverside Counties. Most growers are honest. TALK to the grower, befriend them. Tell them your food fears and ask them to explain their farm practices. Use your gut and soul, you will know true person of character. But as far farmers go...the good ones come in all shapes & sizes and looks. Some of the best food I have ever had has come from the roughest looking farmers in smallest stands.

It sucks that major media isn't going to grab on to this one like they did to the UK report. For me, I could care less if organic is actually better for you or not, its all about the environmental impact. And if you look at total health cost of one versus the other, organic fairly obviously comes out on top. Maybe not in ALL cases. but certainly most of the time.
